AGOCO meets NESR to expand Libya oilfield services

Score: 50 · 2026-10-06

Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) held talks on 6 October 2026 with National Energy Services Reunited (NESR) to explore expanding their cooperation across technical and financial work programmes in Libya. AGOCO's management committee chairman, engineer Mohammed bin Shtwan, received a delegation led by NESR's Libya country manager Wissam Abu Turkiya and business development director Walid Al-Bargathi at AGOCO's offices.

The meeting covered a range of technical and financial topics, as well as a review of ongoing projects and work programmes that NESR currently executes for AGOCO. No further detail on the scope of specific services, contract values, or new project areas was disclosed in the company's announcement. The engagement is classified as an exploratory business discussion — not a signed contract or a formal agreement — and should be treated accordingly.

NESR is an oilfield services company active across the Middle East and North Africa region. Its Libya operations, managed through the Abu Turkiya-led team, appear to have an established working relationship with AGOCO, one of Libya's major state-linked upstream operators under the National Oil Corporation umbrella. AGOCO controls significant onshore production assets in the Sirte Basin, making it a key procurement gateway for oilfield services in eastern Libya.

Libya's upstream sector has seen incremental recovery over recent years as security conditions in parts of the country have stabilised sufficiently to allow operator investment. For international service companies, AGOCO represents one of the more accessible entry points into Libyan oilfield activity given its track record of engaging third-party contractors. However, the commercial and operational environment remains complex, and any expansion of service scopes would be subject to National Oil Corporation oversight and the broader political situation.

Why this matters to partners and clients of Saga

This is a preliminary business meeting with no contract or tender announced; Norwegian service companies should monitor AGOCO's procurement activity rather than initiate supplier outreach at this stage. The NESR engagement signals that AGOCO is actively reviewing its service partnerships, making this a useful moment for Norwegian well-services and drilling firms to strengthen existing relationships or position themselves through NESR as a potential local partner. Companies with relevant oilfield services capabilities — particularly in well intervention, cementing, or directional drilling — should track any formal tender or EOI that may follow from this dialogue.
